On Saturday 10^th December, APK goes to the Botanic Garden in Ruissalo. On the trip, we’ll first walk a 3 kilometres nature trail, after which we’ll go and see the Botanic Garden. We’re going to leave from Kauppatori (platform A8) by Föli bus 8 at 11.27. If you’ll come by car or bike, we’ll meet at Ruissalon puistotie 215 at 11.45.

Everyone has to pay their own entrance fee to the Botanic Garden (students 6 €, adults 9 €), but otherwise the trip is free of charge for APK members. We’ll provide a little snack for the participants. Please take your own water bottle and mug with you and remember to choose clothes according to the weather. You can also join only the trekking part of the trip if you are not interested in visiting the Botanic Garden. Buses number 8 to Turku leave from the Botanic Garden once in an hour (13.07, 14.07 etc.).

APK will go to the Vaarniemi observation tower on 19th of November. The mission is to try out different desserts baked on an open fire, so there will be delicacies and a great view over Turku!

We will depart at 11:27 from Kauppatori bus stop D2 with Föli bus number 7. Estimated time of arrival is 12:25. The trip costs 5 € for our members, and 10 € for non-members. Akateeminen Partiokilta is organizing an opportunity to try wall climbing at Kiipeilykeskus K2 (Kairiskulmantie 12) on Thursday 3rd November at 4:00-5:00 pm. There are only 20 places, so be quick to register here! You don’t need any special garments, only quite flexible basic clothing.

The APK October trip will take place on 15th-16th October, so it will be an overnight trip! The route runs from Silvola in Rusko to Humikkala in Masku and is part of the Kuhankuono hiking trails. On Saturday 15.10. at 10:39am we will take the Föli bus (line 303) from Puutori, arriving in Silvola at about 11:30am. We will return to Turku from Masku by bus on Sunday at about 5pm. You can also join the trip on Saturday only and take a bus back to Turku on Saturday evening or Sunday morning.

The hike is about 18 kilometres, and we will spend the night near the Kerva lean-to, which is located about halfway along the trail. In addition to walking and sleeping outside, we will make food together and enjoy the autumnal nature. If you wish, you can find out more about the Kuhankuono hiking trails at https://kuhankuono.fi/en; the trail that we will be hiking on Saturday is called the Rehtsuo route.

The price is 5 euros for APK members and 10 euros for non-members. We will provide meals for the participants during the trip, which we will prepare together. Please bring your own water bottle, cutlery and a necessary amount of snacks for yourself.

APK has a few sleeping bags, sleeping pads and tents available to borrow, so it’s okay if you don’t own all the equipment yourself. However, it is important to bring warm, weatherproof clothing and shoes, as well as a spacious rucksack to be able to carry the necessary equipment. Now that the nights are already getting colder, it’s important to bring enough clothes – too much rather than too little. Layered clothing is a good option. An email will be sent to those who have signed up for the trip during the week of the trip with more practical information.

Join us on the APK mushroom-picking trip on Thursday 22nd September 2022! Our trip is to Hauninen basin (Haunisten allas) in Raisio. On the trip we’ll try to find some of the most common edible mushrooms in Finland and see how to identify them. The trip is not, however, a complete course for mushroom-picking and everyone is responsible for the mushrooms they pick – because of this we suggest that everyone purchases a mushroom guide book or application that you can use to practice identifying different mushrooms together with the trip guides.

We’ll leave to the trip from the Hauninen basin (Haunisten allas) parking lot at 4pm. You can get there for example using the Föli bus number 300, which leaves the Puutori PT2 stop at 3:15pm. The final stop of the bus line is Mylly, from where it’s about a 20-minute walk to the starting point. We’ll return from the trip 7pm latest to the starting point (parking lot), from where you can walk back to Mylly and take a bus back to Turku leaving at 7:09pm.

Make sure you have a map application or similar to help you find your way from Mylly to the parking lot. If you’re late or can’t find the place, call us at +358 50 378 0711 and we’ll try to help you.

The trip is free. Everyone should take at least a water bottle and other snacks as necessary with them. Additionally we suggest taking with you a basket or plastic bag and a small knife (preferably a mushroom knife, ie. one with a brush in the other end). Additionally we suggest purchasing mushroom guide book or application, which you can learn to use on the trip.

Join us on the APK trip on Saturday 17th September 2022! This time we’re going to Pähkinäpolut in Raisio. The walking distance of the route is about 3 kilometers and we are going to grill some sausages at Pähkinäpolku firepit.

We start our trip from the junction between Sepelrastaankuja and Metsäkallankatu at 12 p.m. We’ll travel there together with the Föli bus 6 that leaves from University bus stop in Turku at 11:10 am. The route ends where we began and we’ll try to make it back to Paikkari bus stop in Raisio by 14.50 and leave back to the University bus stop with bus number 6.

The trip is free for members who have paid their membership fee (you can also join during the trip!), or you can pay just for the trip in which case the participation fee is 5 €. We provide small snacks. Everyone should take with them their own mug, a bottle of water and other snacks if necessary. APK is going to arrange a camping trip to Kuhankuono on 28th – 29th May! On Saturday 28th May, we are going to travel by bus that will leave from Puutori at 11.14 to Kurjenportti parking lot, from where we’ll start our hike at 12.05. We will return to Turku on Sunday afternoon.

The total walking distance is about 16 kilometres, with the emphasis on Saturday. We will camp in tents on the shore of Lake Savojärvi in Rantapiha, where we will also grill, go to sauna and spend the evening together.

APK will take part in the celebrations of May Day Eve by serving punch. We will open our punch stand at Arcanum Park at 12.34 and continue serving there until around 13.30. So take your own mug and come and try our (non-alcoholic) punch! Also, TYY and its many sub-organisations will be serving refreshments at their own points near Yliopistonmäki between 10am and 2pm, so you can start your May Day Eve celebrations with a punch round if you like so.
